10th ANNUAL  KITE FESTIVAL
Was Held on Saturday, May 7th, 2016

How fortunate we were again this year---no rain and a beautiful day for kite flying.  All those who attended seemed to have a wonderful time. We estimate 3,000 attended, and if you can judge success by the  smiles on the faces of the crowds, then it was successful. We are forever grateful to the Heart of Texas Miniature Aircraft Club for providing their incredible field. Our music, 10th Leper, joined us again this year and added to the festivities with their  Christian Rock music and homemade ice cream, and as always, we could not have done it without our wonderful volunteers and vendors.
Again, thank you to the Heart of Texas Young Marines and this year to Americorps who provided us with a number of dedicated volunteers.  Also, a special thank you to our partners and advertisers---Grande Communications, Waco Tribune Herald, KWTX,     H-E-B and our master of ceremonies, Max Tooker. To all attendees, we hope to see you the  first Saturday in May, 2017.

At the 2016 kite festival, the Heart of Texas Sertoma Club honored four recipients who benefited from the club's programs.
Representing the Region 12 school nurses was Kathy Kensing who has received both an audiometer and an otoscope (to date, 30 audiometers have been presented, serving 34 school districts, and 8 otoscopes have been presented to Region 12 school districts),  Justin Honea represented the scholarship recipients, and Macie Martinez and Ashley Cohoneur represented our hearing aid recipients.
Each Ambassador was presented with a certificate of appreciation, a kite, a t-shirt, and a medallion designating them as one of our ambassadors. We are so proud to be able to recognize them as they represent our various programs.
