First audiometer presented to Mart ISD and school nurse Sherry Knoll in February 2012.
In 2012, the Heart of Texas Sertoma Club began a program of donating hearing screening audiometers to Region 12 schools.  Many of these schools had experienced decreased educational funding and had audiometers which were very old, broken, and unrepairable in many cases.  What a great way to reach children throughout Region 12.    On 10-2-15 the Heart of Texas Sertoma Club presented their 29th audiometer to Region 12 school districts which now covers 35 school districts.  So far, we have presented 37 audiometers covering 35 Region 12 school districts.

OTOSCOPES

During the last 3 years the Heart of Texas Sertoma has presented 37 audiometers to Region 12 school nurses covering 35 school districts and some private schools.  While presenting one of these audiometers it came to our attention that a number of the school nurses were in need of new otoscopes to examine children’s ears for ear infections, etc.  Many of the smaller school districts either did not have an otoscope or the otoscopes they did have used rechargeable batteries which would take almost their entire yearly budget to replace.  These small powerful otoscopes presented to the nurses by Sertoma take AA batteries which are affordable and easily obtainable.

Thank You Again!"

"Over the years that I have been a nurse, I have found pebbles in children’s ears and a shiny new penny stuck in a child’s nose.  Hopefully this new otoscope will allow me to better serve these children."
